What Are the Latest Tricks and Methods Hackers Use to Access Your Data or Hack Your Device?

First of all, let me express how glad I am that you are here, reading and taking an interest in cybersecurity and protecting your data.

Or perhaps you are following the security alerts that we also care about, in order to benefit others with the latest developments and updates around cybersecurity alerts,

and any information related to information security on an ongoing basis. Let's get started:

Hackers today are using four main tricks or methods that are considered particularly dangerous due to their increasing use and effectiveness.

These are things you absolutely must be on guard against, and they are:

First: Updates on Global Pandemics and Their Variants:

Information about COVID-19 and its variants, rising case numbers, mutations, or any new news — especially during this period —

is exploited by malicious actors who lure you in through a shocking headline or an ad you feel compelled to click,

which may be either a booby-trapped link or a tracking mechanism.

Or the attacker may already be present on your device, silently laughing at you and monitoring your every move.

Your privacy has been compromised — this has happened, is happening, and will continue to happen.

Second: Downloading Compromised Software from Untrusted Sources:

This applies to downloading software on a computer — through unofficial software download sites.

If you are on a phone, it applies to downloading apps from sources other than official app stores,

which in turn search, scan, and test the apps available on them before use and ensure that all necessary requirements are met.

Third: Political News:

Political news is extremely dangerous given how widely it captivates everyone's attention —

whether among educated individuals, the general public, or people from all walks of life. For example,

the sheer power of a political headline, combined with basic human curiosity, compels you to read the article or click the link.

And just as in the previous case, the link may be booby-trapped, or it may track or live-monitor you.

Fourth: The Quick Response Code “QR Code”

One of the latest tactics in use today — predicted by cybersecurity companies and information security experts alike —

is that hackers are using the Quick Response code, also known as a QR code, placing it in an advertisement, a website,

or even fake pages and social media platforms. The idea is that instead of sending a suspicious-looking link directly,

which many people have become more aware of compared to the past,

they now use this code, giving them a very easy path to reach you.

The moment you scan this code, your device executes the embedded command or opens the pre-programmed link

tied to that code without you having a choice — and at that point, you are under the full control of the hacker.

For this reason, a warning is necessary — please exercise caution and be wary of these matters.
