Developments in the War Between Russia and Ukraine:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that they are in control of the capital Kyiv and other important surrounding areas.
This came through a breaking news report from Al Arabiya channel stating that Ukrainian armed forces are in control of the capital Kyiv and important positions around it.
The war has been ongoing since Thursday, when Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of Russian military operations
on Ukrainian soil, and Saturday marked the third consecutive day of Russia's attack on Ukraine.
The Ukrainian capital Kyiv also witnessed today Russian missile bombardment targeting residential neighborhoods,
resulting in material and human casualties, according to a statement by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
The Security Council failed to pass a draft resolution condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine,
as Russia's veto struck down the American draft resolution in the Security Council,
after Security Council members had received the draft resolution regarding Ukraine.
The US Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, emphasized during her remarks at the Security Council
that everyone must know that Russia chose this war, and noted that the draft resolution condemns Russia and supports Ukraine's independence.
The US Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, further stated in her Security Council address
that Russia violated international law by launching its attack on Ukraine, reaffirming Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity,
and called on Russia to immediately withdraw its forces from Ukraine.

that she commends the courage of the Russians who demonstrated against the war and against Putin,
stating that Russia may use the veto, but not against the Ukrainian people, adding: We stand united behind Ukraine despite Russia's lack of accountability.

On a separate note, Ambassador Karen Pierce, the UK's Permanent Representative to the United Nations,
said in her address at the Security Council session: Who is next after Ukraine?
clarifying that Russian President Vladimir Putin's goal is to topple the Ukrainian government.

what she called Russia's pretexts regarding Ukraine, noting that protecting future generations from war is the Security Council's responsibility,
and indicating that Putin's war against Ukraine is unjustified.
Ambassador Karen Pierce, the UK's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, stated
that Russia is isolated and no one supports its military operation, adding: We will hold Russia accountable for this aggression.
On the Russian side, President
Vladimir Putin threatened those who might consider intervening in the Russian military operation announced last Thursday
to protect the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine.
Putin said: A few very important words for those who might be tempted to intervene from outside in the current events.
He added: Anyone who tries to interfere with us, or even more so to create threats to our country and our people,
must know that Russia's response will be immediate and will lead to consequences never seen before in history.
We are prepared for any developments in events, and all necessary decisions have been taken in this regard,
and I hope I am heard”.
Putin added, confirming that full responsibility for the bloodshed lies entirely with the Ukrainian government,
and that he is confident the Russian military will carry out their duty to the fullest.
