What is Wikipedia and why is it important to you?
Wikipedia is the largest free encyclopedia on the Internet, read by more than 500 million people monthly in multiple languages. Having a page on it gives you exceptional credibility; When anyone searches for your name or the name of your business on Google, the Wikipedia page appears in almost the first place, which is not possible with any other advertising method, no matter how much you pay.
Conditions for accepting a page in Wikipedia
Before you begin, know that Wikipedia has a basic standard called Notability, which means that the person or activity must have received independent and reliable media coverage. Here are the practical conditions:
- The presence of reliable external sources that talk about you (press articles, news sites, specialized magazines).
- The sources must not be promotional or issued from accounts affiliated with you.
- Your activity must have a tangible impact or achievement that can be documented.
- Do not use Wikipedia as a marketing tool - it is an encyclopedia, not an advertisement.
The first step: collecting sources
The sources are The mainstay of any successful Wikipedia page. Gather before you start:
- Articles from well-known news sites that mention your name or activity.
- Interviews, TV or radio reports with links or digital references.
- Academic studies or institutional reports that mention you.
- Awards or certificates of appreciation from recognized bodies.
The stronger and more diverse your sources are, the greater the chance that the page will be accepted and maintained.
Step 2: Create an account. Wikipedia
- Go to ar.wikipedia.org and click “Create an account”.
- Choose a neutral username (not your real name or business name).
- Activate the account via email.
- Important: Don’t start writing your own page directly — start editing other articles first to build an editorial history.
Step 3: Build a history Editing

Alternatives if the page is rejected
If the conditions are not yet met, do not be discouraged. Start by:
- Building a presence on trusted sites (interviews, press coverage).
- Creating an organized and active LinkedIn page.
- Writing guest articles on authoritative blogs and sites in your field.
After 6-12 months of building a digital presence, you will find that sufficient resources have become available and the page has become eligible for acceptance.
