always, and the financial freedom you have long dreamed of achieving someday — are you ready??!!

It is happening right now, so go ahead and fill in this data about your channel so we can review the matter and then follow up with you again to agree on the rest of

the details, and now verifying all the entered data and processing the matter step by step, and you are done — only one small step away from the dream,

Submit!!!

And now I am going to optimize the channel more and more in order to win this position, and now it is time to log in,

What is this — I need more focus — what is happening — this is not normal — is it the keyboard or the battery? Or am I facing a problem with this wretched operating system,

Little by little you realize that you cannot access your channel and that your reckless dream was nothing but an illusion — and a cheap act of treachery designed to trap you??!

So What Happens Next??!!

In a coordinated attack, malicious actors hijacked thousands of content creators’ YouTube accounts. Many of the YouTube users targeted in this attack include those who run auto-tune channels and car review channels. Content creators are now unable to access their channels and many channels have been deleted. Security researchers are now blaming YouTube’s multi-factor authentication policies for these attacks.

Among the high-profile YouTube users in the automotive community who were affected, content creators from other communities were also hit in these attacks. Many YouTube users and their subscribers turned to Twitter and Instagram to complain about the recent attacks and YouTube’s failure to help them recover their channels.

Attack Vector

The malicious actors used a phishing campaign to initiate their attacks. Cimpanu determined that the fraudsters attacked creators using spear phishing rather than targeting a random few. This means the phishing emails were targeting specific content creators.

Once the emails were sent and the links clicked, the victim is taken to a fake Google login page. This is when the victim logs in with their credentials, which are then captured by the attacker. The attacker then takes control of the account and changes the URL, making the creator believe that their account has been deleted.

Furthermore, the attackers were able to bypass accounts that had two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. It is believed that the attackers used a reverse-proxy-based phishing toolkit to intercept the 2FA code sent via SMS.

Instead of using two-factor authentication (2FA), Google should encourage its creators to use more secure authentication methods. This includes using apps such as Google Authenticator or Duo, which change codes every 30 to 90 seconds, for authentication instead of using SMS. It is important to note that while 2FA was intercepted for some accounts, enabling it is still highly encouraged and far more secure than having just a password for your account.

What Happens to the Stolen Accounts?

Askamani, one of the hackers, told ZDNet that the compromised accounts are likely to be sold on online forums such as OGUsers and Russian forums. He further stated,
