The TikTok App Ranked as Third Largest Social Network in 2022

There are new projections for the TikTok platform to reach third place as the largest social network in the world, behind Facebook and Instagram.

In its projections based on the Chinese platform's global install list, “Insider Intelligence” — formerly known as “eMarketer” —

expects “TikTok” to reach approximately 755 million monthly users in the current year 2022,

after TikTok witnessed significant growth of 59.8 percent in 2020, followed by further growth of 40.8 percent in the previous year 2021,

Meanwhile, “Facebook” (Meta), counting from earnings events, reported 2.91 billion monthly active users after recording 6 percent annual growth,

Recently, “Instagram” employees leaked that its network has surpassed two billion monthly users,

which represents a significant rise from the one billion monthly users reported in June 2018,

Nevertheless, “Insider Intelligence” notes that it expects to use a relatively different set of accounts for 2022,

as the company has its own definition of a monthly active user, which may differ from the definition used by each company it analyzes,

For example, it counts users who have logged in at least once a month, consistently throughout an entire year,

and it also attempts to exclude fake accounts from its estimates and calculations,

The goal of this is to provide clients with a live comparison that is more consistent and realistic across all platforms,

According to the company's estimates, “Facebook” may reach 2.1 billion monthly users in 2022, followed by “Instagram” with 1.28 billion users,

while “TikTok” takes third place with 755 million monthly users, pulling ahead of its rival “Twitter” .

TikTok Grows at an Excellent Pace Over the Past Two Years in a Notable Manner:

Sensor Tower” revealed that the short-video app (TikTok) surpassed 2 billion downloads,

via the “App Store” and “Google Play” in the first quarter of 2020, the year before last

A separate report from “App Annie” also indicated that the app achieved significant growth of 325 percent in 2020,

and it also increased the time each user spends on it monthly faster than any other app in the same category,

including by 65 percent in the United States, for example,

In July 2021, “Sensor Tower” noted that “TikTok” had become the first non-“Facebook”-owned mobile app (outside of games)

to reach 3 billion downloads worldwide via the “App Store” and “Google Play”,

At the same time, TikTok's consumer spending surpassed $2.5 billion worldwide,

and these figures placed the app among a small group of outstanding apps that have achieved such a milestone, including “YouTube” and “Netflix”,

At the same time, other companies projected that the monthly active user base of this Chinese-origin platform would reach one billion users in 2021,

while “Insider Intelligence”'s projections are somewhat more conservative due to its methodology,

but the app is expected to continue growing at a rate of 15.1 percent in the current year 2022,

TikTok's share of total social network users has also risen as a result of its growth,

and “Insider Intelligence” projects that it could surpass the 20 percent mark for the first time, approaching a quarter by 2024,

Meanwhile, TikTok's rise poses a particular challenge to “Snapchat”, as the apps compete to attract teenagers,

and although there is not a great deal of similarity between “TikTok” and “Twitter”,

TikTok's size relative to “Twitter” is a clear reflection of the addictive nature of the content offered on TikTok

and there is still ample room for future growth for this app,

and 3.57 billion people may use social media apps at least once a month next year.
